If you haven't seen the Christmas lights at the Cambria Pines Lodge, it is a must visit during the Christmas Season. It has a small outdoor market with food, hot drinks, and craft items for sale, plus one of the best light displays you will see anywhere. You get access for only $5 (Kids 5 and under free). We made the same trip last year, and stayed at a hotel right near the beach, but ended up having to catch a shuttle to the display.
On Friday morning I decided to check the rates for the Cambria Pines Lodge (I really hate to give this info up, because quite frankly we plan on making this a year family trip and I fear with larger crowds the rates will go up). I figured it was gonna be way expensive, since it was right in the middle of all the action, yet it was only $119 for the night, and that included a great breakfast buffet.
The room was comfy, had a fireplace and had a ski lodge feel to it. The best part was that we had parking right there and didn't have to get on a shuttle bus after. When the kids got tired we just walked back to the room.
If you have small kids make the trip, you won't regret it. Here are some photos from the trip.
I think this was the Golden Gate Bridge. Eddie thought it was so cool he could cross on his own.
Abominable Snowman was a hit with the kids.
This was very beautiful and the photo does not capture the motion, and the music playing. See video below.
There were several backdrops available with lighting so you could take cool family photos.

This Nativity Scene was very beautiful, look at the roof in the back.
Another beautiful lighted walkway.

Montana enjoying some hot cocoa on a cold night in the market. After a long walk looking at lights, this hit the spot.
The Cambria Pines lode room we stayed in. It was very cozy, and did not break the bank.
The kids couldn't wait until we started the fire.
Eddie enjoying the comfy bed. He actually said "This is the life".
